Jennifer Masley

Artist Statement:

hm hm hmm in relation to my work describes the experience of seeing and processing my surroundings. My work, similarly, is a way of processing the internal and external world around me. My sculptures reference visual experiences familiar to domestic spaces, including the materials used in furniture, walls, ceilings, and fixtures. My forms either pull from practical objects or faux decorative items. I think about my physical relationship with my fabricated versions of these things and create surreal interpretations of them through composition. With this I am connecting the familiar with the strange, trying to see things with new eyes, and inject the personalized memories to things that may come off as generic.
